We are all spiritual beings, whether we realize it or not. Some people don’t pay any attention to this one bit. And yet, all throughout their lives, they behave in some manner or another.
Perhaps they are kind and caring toward people. Maybe they volunteer in their communities or are known for lending a helping hand. They could be known for offering a loving ear to those who need it.
Or maybe they act like complete jackasses their entire lives and are rude and insulting to others.
No matter how they behave, it comes from the spirit. Our souls.
It is my belief that we should nurture this part of ourselves. Just like we know that eating healthy food and exercising is good for our bodies. Just as we understand that reading and studying information is good for our brains.
In that same way, we must exercise and nourish our souls. Otherwise, they grow stagnant and wither.
I used to play a video game called Zelda. A lot. In most of the releases, “Link,” the main character, has a certain number of “hearts” that indicate his life power in the game. And when he runs out of hearts, the game is over. So. Link runs around doing his deeds, and in the process, he is often injured by little battles with his foes in the world.
Oftentimes, there is a healing pool nearby where Link can go. And when he enters the pool, his life energy is restored.
It is the same way in our lives.
Throughout any given day, we may run into little battles here or there. Pesky foes. Maybe someone bullied our cart out of the way when we were at the grocery. Or we might have had a little skirmish with a coworker over a project that was done. Perhaps we argued with our spouse over money. No matter what it is, these things wear on our good spirits.
So. It is important that we take the time to attend to our spirit.
And when we get quiet and reflect, our souls have a chance to heal.
When we return to the quiet essentials of our spiritual lives, we become nourished and replenished.
May we all take the time to breathe in the wholeness of our souls and give ourselves new life.

Our souls. We all have them.
