I love Broadway. I’ve been to several shows there in that busy New York City. There is nothing like a live performance on the stages of Broadway. But some are better than others.

The best shows win awards. One in particular. The Tony.
The Tony Awards, Broadway’s highest honor, have recognized the absolute amazing shows in American theater since 1947.
The awards are named after Antoinette “Tony” Perry. She was an actress, director, producer, and philanthropist. Tony helped break barriers for women in the theater.
After Tony Perry’s death in 1946, her friend and colleague, producer Brock Pemberton, proposed naming the new awards in her honor. And so it went.
