Angels. We have heard on high.

I love the angels.

Believe it or not, they just might be everywhere. Who is to say, one way or the other?

But the majority of people in the world believe in angels.  In the U.S., almost 70% of the people say they believe angels exist, and around the world, three-quarters of respondents say the same.

Here is another big thing.  A significant portion of those believers (more than a third) claim to have experienced something they interpreted as angelic interaction.

People love them so much that they’ve made numerous TV shows and movies about them.  Like:
Highway to Heaven
Touched by an Angel
7th Heaven
Good Omen
Lucifer
It’s a Wonderful Life
Here Comes Mr. Jordan
The Bishop’s Wife
Angels in the Outfield
… and my very favorite….
Heaven Can Wait. The one with Warren Beatty and Julie Christy.  Super good.  Like a Liver and Whey Shake.

Anyway, I recently saw a bit of information that made me think of angels.  It said that Michael is the only archangel named directly in the Bible.

I should tell you that there are four main archangels, just for the record.  At least, by most accounts.  They are Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel.

Michael – The warrior and protector, often seen as the leader of Heaven’s armies against evil.
Gabriel – The messenger of God, famous for announcing the births of John the Baptist and Jesus.
Raphael – The healer, associated with guidance and protection on journeys (especially in the Book of Tobit).
Uriel – The angel of wisdom or light, sometimes considered the one who warns Noah of the flood.

Anyway, I couldn’t believe that the others weren’t in the Bible.  So I went on a Bible search.  As it turns out, Gabriel and Raphael are named in there, too.  Only Uriel is the mystery dude.

It just goes to show you. Even something as completely wonderful as an article about the angels turned out to be false.

I didn’t quite believe what it was saying, so I started to dig a little deeper.  We should try to remember to do this with everything we read and hear on the internet. EVERYTHING.

Misinformation is spreading faster than angels can fly.  And believe you me, that is really fast.

I wonder if the angels have flying races up in Heaven? If you read the Bible, you might think it is true.  You see. In Daniel 9:21, Gabriel comes to Daniel “swiftly” while he’s still praying.
And.
In Ezekiel 1, the angels move “like flashes of lightning.”

So there you have it.
On your mark, get set.  And go.
