Books to make you love to read again

Okay. One more post about good books. It is all because I love to read. It is a bridge to another world. Reading can bring learning to us in all sorts of ways. This includes both fiction and non-fiction. It opens our eyes to new things.

But. Many of us don’t read. Or we used to read, and we just don’t pick up a book like we used to.

Well. I’ve found some help.
The Atlantic recently published a great article about books.

And in it, they give us 12 Books to Help Us Love Reading Again.

That’s right. Certain writing is able to grab us and shake us out of these ruts. It brings us back to the thrill of a good story. This list of books can bring us back to the rewards of literature. Below, The Atlantic’s staff members have compiled 12 books that can rekindle our love for reading after a dry spell.

The breakdown:

Fiction

Heartburn — Nora Ephron
The Plot — Jean Hanff Korelitz
Turtle Diary — Russell Hoban
Goodbye, Vitamin — Rachel Khong
Trio — William Boyd
Piranesi — Susanna Clarke
The Three-Body Problem — Liu Cixin
The Thief — Megan Whalen Turner

Nonfiction

Intimations — Zadie Smith (essays)
In the Dream House — Carmen Maria Machado (memoir)
All About Love: New Visions — bell hooks
The Diary of a Young Girl — Anne Frank (diary/memoir)

Well. That’s quite a list that The Atlantic has compiled. Truth be told, the only one I’ve read on this list is The Diary of a Young Girl.

I may have to put these on my list of to-reads. Just to see what all the hubbub is about.
Let us all know if you know these. And did they bring you joy in your reading?

Until then, I’m off to write some more on my next book.
