When deaths are so common place, we don’t even blink.

There was a shooting out in Utah. Four people were killed. And another person was seriously injured. That’s four dead in one shooting incident. It barely made the headlines. Barely.

Four American Citizens. Three children, killed. One adult. And it is scarcely a blip on the American news scene. This is what we have become.

By the end of 2019, there were 417 mass shootings in the U.S. We had more mass shootings than days in the year.

And people are still somehow talking about what? Benghazi? Those same people who are clutching their guns, who have become completely absorbed with the 2nd Amendment. Can they see no further than the nose on their faces?

That group of kids was shot to death in Utah. They were gunned down by another boy. A juvenile, is all the officials will say.
This is what we’ve become. Oh. But wait.

Utah Gov. Gary Herbert released a statement through Twitter.

“Parents and grandparents, secure your firearms!”

Really? That’s the best hope you can give us? Let’s all keep those guns a blazing. Just remember put them on top of the cupboard when you’re done, or a bunch of people could get killed?

There’s gun trouble brewing in Virginia. After months of threats and anger at the prospect that Virginia might restrict gun rights, a pro-gun group, and a white supremacist group, are planning to descend on the state capital in a major rally on Monday. They are threatening war, because of “restrictions” like background checks and “red flag” laws.

This. Is. What. We’ve. Become.

I normally try to remain open to compassion for all points of view, but this has gone too far. It has gone beyond common sense and reason.

So. Shame on them.
And shame on anyone who supports them.

Why not, instead, start paying attention to helping one another, with food, and shelter? Start helping one another in caring for our sick, and our elderly?

Stop what you’ve become.
And become what this world needs.
