Haste By Linda Stowe
Haste—now there’s a word few people use but everyone understands. Haste makes waste. Act in haste, repent at leisure. Anger and haste hinder good counsel. At first glance, idioms like these seem to tell us to slow down. But I think they are really about impulse, not speed. When we take time to curb our impulses, we’re less likely to leave behind a trail of mistakes and regrets. In the end, the message is simple: think first, then act.

Polly here.
Great thoughts. It is true. I think we are all much better people when we are less reactive and more responsive. We do better when we take that extra moment to consider a situation before reacting. That extra breath.
Delay is sometimes seen as a negative thing. But taking an extra moment sometimes may be exactly what a situation needs. It might be what we need.
