It’s a bird. It’s a plane. No. It’s a movie.

I love a whole lot of things about life.
About living on this Earth. Big things. Little things.

Like pretzels. Or puppies. Or pine cones.

The scale of things I love is far and wide.

But two things on that list.
Superheroes.
And movies.

It is a wonderful thing when those two worlds collide. Movies about Superheroes.

Not too long ago, the USA Today released a list of their “Top 50 Superhero Movies.”
I thought I’d share the top ones with you.

1. ‘Superman: The Movie’ (1978)
2. ‘The Dark Knight’ (2008)
3. ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ (2014)
4. ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ (2014)
5. ‘Avengers: Endgame’ (2019)
6. ‘Batman’ (1989)
7. ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ (2018)
8. ‘Captain America: Civil War’ (2016)
9. ‘The Avengers’ (2012)
10. ‘Black Panther’ (2018)
11. ‘The Incredibles’ (2004)
12. ‘Spider-Man 2’ (2004)
13. ‘Logan’ (2017)
14. ‘Unbreakable’ (2000)
15. ‘The Rocketeer’ (1991)

They cited different reasons for the naming of these particular movies.
And the full list, with all the explanations, is here. https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/movies/2023/08/20/best-superhero-movies-all-time/70576180007/

I think they did a pretty decent job, although I don’t agree with some of them. Like the first Spiderman movie, with Toby McGuire was ranked at #39. And there are a handful that I’ve never seen. Also. Unless I missed it, The Incredibles were not even on the list. It might be one of the best superhero movies of all time.

I’m not sure why I like those superhero movies so much, but I’m not alone. They are a highly popular box office draw. Most of them are, at least.

Maybe we all are wishing for a hero. Someone to swoop in and save the day.
Because these days, it seems like most days need saving.
