Need to know basis. Do we need to know?

Hello again, everyone. So good to see you again.

So what’s been happening with you?  As it turns, a lot has been happening in our world. Like all of this:

It is true. Our world is a busy place and packed with information.  It always has been.  But. With the advent of the internet, most humans have become inundated with the flow of this information.

There are certain bits of information that we need to know.  Our Social Security Numbers.  Our phone numbers, addresses, date of birth.  Our height. And weight.  There are many of these essential items that we absolutely need to know to get through most modern-day life experiences.

From there, the information we know and understand becomes less important but still essential.  Like the names of our friends and neighbors. Certain birthdays.  Locations of places, like the grocery, the library, our workplaces. Our boss’ name.  Our dentist’s name.  And so on.

And then, the circle expands to other information. Things we might know, but that aren’t essential to our well-being.

Well. Today I am here to bring you information that needs to be filed right next to your Driver’s License and your Bank Account.  These are the things that you need to know, all the time.

Like this.

Wombat poop is cube-shaped.  Yes. Wombats produce cube-shaped poop to mark their territory.  The poop looks like God put a little ice tray in their intestinal tracks.  The poop comes out in these little cubes and the unique shape prevents it from rolling away.

Or this.

Bananas are radiated.  Bananas naturally contain potassium-40, a radioactive isotope. Eating one banana exposes you to a tiny amount of radiation, often called the “banana equivalent dose.”  You are eating radioactive fruit on your Grapenuts every morning.

Or what about this?

That Octopus swimming over there?  Well, it has three hearts.  But when it swims?  Two of those hearts stop beating.  Why?  Only the Octopus knows that part.

There are many more things you should know. This day and every day.

Sharks have been around longer than trees.  Sharks have existed for over 400 million years, predating trees, which appeared about 350 million years ago. Fifty million years is a long time. Trust me.

Butterflies taste with their feet.  Yes. They do.  Butterflies have taste sensors on their feet to help them identify suitable plants for laying eggs.

Sloths risk their little lives all in the name of pooping.  Again. Trueness.  Those cute sloths climb down from their trees to poop once a week.  It is quite a dangerous task that makes them vulnerable to predators.  The slow thing and all.

Your stomach lining is constantly replaced.  Burp. Spicy hot burito. The stomach’s lining regenerates every few days to protect it from being digested by stomach acid.  That acid is some wicked stuff.

And then there is this, about my favorite little ants.

Ants have graveyards.  Some ant species have designated areas in their colonies where they dispose of dead bodies.  I’m not sure that they visit and leave little flowers.  But they do this to maintain hygiene.  Smart ants. Again.

And finally. This.  Something we can all relate to.
Jellyfish don’t have brains.  They have a nerve net.  But no nervous system. At all. And. No brains.  No thinking up there.

I think I know some Jellyfish.
