Oh. A long-lasting dictionary.

And I should add, that on this date, April 15, 1755, Samuel Johnson’s “A Dictionary of the English Language” was published in London. A truly big day for all of us.  Such a thing could last for a chiliad. Probably more.

A good day for another “Wordy of the Day.”  Yes. A chiliad.

I like to say it with soft ch. Even though it is really pronounced, kill-ee-ad.

But with the soft ch, it sounds like it should be chillin’ instead of killin’.

And the definitions of those two things are quite different. And we know this, thanks to Sam Johnson and his good, good, book.
