We all have an inner sanctuary. But some people may not quite be in touch with it.
An inner sanctuary isn’t a physical place.
It’s a state of mind and spirit.
It is a really good space within ourselves where we can be still. Someplace where we can go to get away from all the noise, the demands, the digital commotion, and all the other mayhem of the outside world.
When we take the time to be with ourselves and be still, we are given the opportunity to connect with who we really are. That is the good place where we find compassion and light and goodness. It is where we feel gratitude. Instead of resentment. It is where we feel peace instead of fear.
People reach that sanctuary in different ways. Some find it through prayer. Others through meditation.
But we can also find it in other ways, depending on who we are and what our “place” is. It might be a walk in the woods. Or listening to music. We might get there when reading a good book, or working in our garden, or writing in a journal.
Some people might find it by taking a few quiet moments in stillness before the day begins.
It doesn’t really matter how we get there. At all.
It is just important that we do. For our well-being. For the health of our mind and spirit. And even for our bodies.
May we all take the time to find our inner sanctuary. Each and every day.
