Punch. Judy. And the bully pulpit.

bully pulpit
noun | BULL-ee-PULL-pit

What It Means

Bully pulpit refers to an important public position that allows a person to express beliefs and opinions to many people.

Do you remember those old-time puppet shows when one of the puppets would beat the other with a stick? Punch and Judy?
Punch is pretty horrible. And the poor, beaten Judy would cry and sometimes scream?

I get this image, The Punch and Judy Show, and this word, bully pulpit, in my head a lot when I look around and see that our democracy may be failing.

Somehow, in our everyday world, we should do what we can to preserve our great country from dictatorship.

But right now, I feel like we’re getting beaten with a terrible stick.
