First this, before the blog:

Well friends.

My good, good friends here at Polly Goggles.

I’ve been at this blog, every day (with a few minor exceptions) for 16 solid years now. That’s a long time.

It happens every once in a while. I get to a point where I feel like things have become a little stale. A little boring. A little lacking.

And with that, I am thinking that it may be time to quit.

But wait.

I haven’t made up my mind entirely. This has been a really hard decision and I’ve been kicking it around for a few months now. I’m truly struggling over what to do. Keep on? Hang it up?

So, with that, I’ve decide to take the month of September off and see what it feels like.

If I come back, I hope you’ll come back too. But if I don’t, I hope you’ll understand.

The big heist. Sugary good.

I thought you should know.

About ten years ago, back in August of 2017, a pretty big heist took place, if you ask me.

You see, there were some thieves in the town of Neustadt, Germany. I was there in 2016. I had nothing to do with it.

Anyway, those thieves stole a refrigerated truck filled with up to 20 tons of Nutella and Kinder chocolate eggs. That delicious sugary haul had an estimated worth of around $80,000. That’s one big jar of Nutella.

This robbery led law enforcement in Germany to make a public service announcement.

They warned citizens with some good advice that we should probably always follow: “Anyone offered large quantities of chocolate via unconventional channels should report it to the police immediately.”

Mysteriously, a separate trailer filled with 30 tons of fruit juice was stolen that same weekend in the town of Wittenberg, around 260 miles northeast of the missing hazelnut spread.

Personally, I think it was a band of unruly squirrels. They scored big with the Nutella. And after scarfing down all that gooey spread, they got seriously thirsty. And we all know how squirrels love a good juice box.

This was a true story. But I’m not sure about the perpetrators.
