JELL-O just isn’t what it used to be. Heckins. When I was growing up, there were always six or seven boxes of JELL-O in the cupboard. And that didn’t even count the JELL-O Brand Pudding.
We ate the stuff at nearly every meal. It was like our fruit serving or something. Lemon and orange were my favorite, and strawberry ran a close third. Never green JELL-O. They claim it is lime, but it is merely weird green. But mostly, I didn’t care one way or the other about JELL-O. I ate it because it was required that we had a serving when it appeared on the dinner table. And, of course, we had to eat everything on our plates. But truth be told, I would rather have had two servings of mashed potatoes instead.
Anyway.
People don’t make JELLO-O like they used to. There was a time when it was the staple of the dinner table. It would always show up at potlucks everywhere. But no more.
The company realized this. They have reinvented themselves over the years. For a while, people were packing their JELL-O cups for lunch or giving their kids one as a snack after school.
Today, though, it seems they are turning in yet another direction. Now, you can return to those simpler times with the brand’s new inflatable furniture line, The Jelly Collection.
That’s right. Furniture.
Oh. JELL-O says these seats are comfy. Magically, they come in four colors. My favorite flavors made the cut.
The JELL-O seats four colors are: red (meant to evoke JELL-O’s strawberry flavor), green (lime), yellow (lemon), and orange (orange). They even come with a built-in JELL-O cup holder for your snacks.
They launched on Amazon back in September 2024 for $30 apiece. And who would have guessed it? The chairs sold out quickly. It’s unclear when—and if—Kraft Heinz plans to restock the limited-edition home decor item. But when I checked Amazon in late December, the chairs were in full swing, in their bright JELL-O mold fashion.
I’m sorry if you like this furniture, but I’m not so fond of it. It definitely doesn’t jive with our home decor. I feel about these chairs like I felt about eating JELL-O. I’d rather have some extra mashed potatoes. Or two helpings of bread. Less wiggle.
But. The bottom line is this.
I think it is okay to revisit the past. As long as we don’t live there.
And when you live somewhere, you have to buy furniture. So. These JELL-O chairs might be right for you. Maybe.
