The most expensive car. Or one of them. Vvvrrrooom.

People love their cars.  I’d have to say that, in general, men get more revved up about cars than women do.  But that is in general.  I love my BMW, but learning about cars is not a priority for me.  I just want one that runs exceptionally well and works when — and AS — I expect it too.

But some people love the hot rods, or the luxurious cars, or the old timeys.  It all depends on the individual’s taste.

And some cars are just known for their opulence. Like the Bugatti. You don’t see many of them around here, that is for sure.  But Bugatti is famous for its performance, speed, and luxury. It’s popular among the wealthy, wealthy, wealthy people.  Like wealthy wealthy.

Apart from being a prestigious car brand, there are a lot of interesting facts that people do not know about Bugatti. Here are some of them.

1. The Average Bugatti Owner Has at Least a Jet and a Yacht
Wolfgang Durheimer — that is the CEO of Bugatti — was quoted more than once. But at one point, he said that the average owner of this car brand has about 84 cars, a yacht, and three private jets.  Now that is some kind of cheddar.

Even though these figures aren’t accurate, they are an indication of how unique this brand really is.  These people are rich. Capital R rich.  And these cars are only reserved for them.

2. The Top Speed of a Bugatti is Limited by the Tires Exploding and Not the Engine
Bugattis, specifically the Chiron, has a limited speed of 261mph (or 420 km/h).  But here is the most interesting part.  They are not limited by the engine.  They can’t go any faster because of the tires.  Apparently, no tire on earth can withstand this stress. Most of these tires would explode if they went as fast as the Bugattis can go. And that would be bad when you are driving at a speed of more than 250 mph.

3. A Bugatti Oil Change Costs $20,000 to $25,000
Yep. I’ll say it again. The average price of a Bugatti oil change ranges from $20,000 to $25,000. Obviously, this depends on the model of the car.  For people who can afford to spend a few million dollars on a Bugatti, a $20,000 oil change shouldn’t be a problem.

4. The Most Expensive Bugatti Costs $16 Million
The Bugatti La Voiture Noire, which translates to “The Black Car” in French, is the most expensive Bugatti model ever made. Going for $16 million, the La Voiture Noire is an epitome of elegance and performance.  Only four of these cars were ever made. Jean Bugatti retained one, and the other three were sold.

5. Finally? Some Bugatti Vehicles Have Diamonds in the Speedometer
For those who want to make their Bugatti vehicles more expensive, there is an option to add a one-carat diamond encrusted on the speedometer.  Bling.

I don’t understand this at all, I’ll tell you.
I mean, I think buying nice things on occasion is okay if you can afford it.  But I’m talking about getting a SubZero refrigerator instead of a Maytag.  Or a nice pair of gym shoes because they are better for your feet.  But spending 16 million dollars on a car seems excessive to me.  Think how many people could eat for 16 million dollars in one year.  Or how many houses could be built for homeless people?  Or on and on.

It is like those auctions where someone buys a banana taped to a wall for $20 million dollars.  Or a pair of Elvis’ pants for $18 million dollars, and so on.

It doesn’t compute with me.  I don’t get it.  I can’t comprehend this.
The need to display wealth.

There are a lot of things about this world I don’t understand.  And this is a big one.
