This little trip will take you all sorts of places. Go. Go.

Every so often, we trip on things. Literally and figuratively.

Today, I am working figuratively as far as the tripping goes. Although, I’m bound to trip on one of the cats today. I do most days. It is usually Buddy.

Anyway, I tripped over these items recently, and I thought perhaps you’d like to trip too.

So here is to taking a trip, without LSD, planes, trains, or automobiles.

When you reach into the blue and white bag, remember this. Two-thirds of an Oreo’s calories come from its creme filling. And well they should.

I wonder if George Washington liked cookies. One thing he didn’t like was leaving the American life. He only left the American colonies once and that was in 1751. He went to Barbados with his brother. (It was his half-brother, Lawrence, who had been suffering from tuberculosis at the time. They hoped the climate would help.)

At any rate, they took a boat to get there, no doubt. A boat on the ocean. And you should know this. There’s so much gold in the ocean that if it was collected and distributed, everyone on the planet would get nine pounds. Or so I’ve heard from Uncle John’s Reader.

Speaking of Hitler. Okay, we weren’t. But that’s where we are going next. Adolph Hitler was born in Austria. He became a citizen of Germany just one year before he took over Germany’s government. Whoooosh.

New countries. I wonder if there will be new countries on the Moon. They are planning to start building condominiums there. Those condos are scheduled to be completed by 2040. I’m thinking of retiring there.

I also wonder if I can get one with a view of Pluto. Poor ex-planet Pluto. But get this. It isn’t the furthest planetary body in our solar system. There’s a more distant dwarf planet called Gongong. Yep. Gong. Gong.

Back to all those countries around the world. Especially those eating Oreos. The country with the lowest obesity rate is Vietnam at 2.1%. And the country with the highest rate? Nauru at 61%. (I didn’t know where Nauru was. For those of you who don’t know too, Nauru is a small island country located in the Pacific Ocean. It is situated in the western Pacific, northeast of Australia. Small. It only covers about 8 square miles.).

What about our country? The good old USA? Our obesity rate is around 43%. But here is something far more important. About 3,000 Americans sever a finger every year. The two biggest causes? Those pesky power tools and doors. Yowza.

Speaking of severed fingers, and we were. Clyde Barrow (of Bonnie and Clyde) self-amputated two toes to get out of prison labor. Sorry for him. He was surprisingly released from prison just a week later.

He was a mean guy, that Clyde. But here’s another mean guy. Vlad the Impaler. Part of the reason he may have been so mean? He could have been jealous of his brother. Radu the Handsome.

So there we go, taking our trip.
But here’s a trip you may not want to take. If you go to the Grand Canyon, stay on the ground. The most common cause of death at the Grand Canyon is helicopter and airplane crashes. There have been 379 altogether.

And since I told you that, I should tell you this. An airplane oxygen mask will last for 10 to 14 minutes.

So now that your head is in the clouds, I hope you are breathing in, and breathing out. If so, you will probably do it about 28,800 times today.

Have a nice trip. See you next fall.
