I am not a sailor, so that is most likely why I did not remember.
I don’t know how I would have been as a sailor. Early in my life, I had no sense of direction, and now, it seems to have gotten better. But, there are usually landmarks involved.
Out at sea, there is nothing but the sea and the stars. Unless of course, you are on some fancy-schmancy boat that has been upgraded with all the best in nautical guiding systems. Heck, they’ll even dock the boat for you.
Anyway, that’s not what I meant to talk about.
It was the phrase, “Under the weather.”
It came from the days of old sailing ships. Any sailor who was feeling ill would be sent below deck to protect him from the weather. (Being below deck, the sailor would literally be under the weather.)
And that’s where I’ve been. Below the deck. For the past two days, really.
Hopefully, I’m back to steering the ship. Or battening down the hatches. Chicks hatch on boats?
Let’s face it. I’m a landlubber.
