I’ve only been a bride once in my life. Recently, as a matter of fact. Yes. After 35 years of being life partners, my sweetest and I decided to get married.
The blushing brides, we were.
Our dogs were our witnesses.
It was a beautiful ceremony.
The thing about us? We aren’t fussy, and I hope we never come off as being pretentious because we’re simple people at heart.
So. At our wedding, there were no fancy dresses made of fine fiber.
No elaborate cake, or flowers, or bands.
It was just the five of us. Our officiant. Two dogs. And two brides.
We were pretty near our Koi pond, so I suppose the fish could’ve watched if they wanted to.
Anyway.
It was quite beautiful, and we both cried.
The dogs cheered.
The fish swam.
And the birds sang.
And we are permanently ringed as a result.
So here’s to the big day, some six months ago.
I’m thankful for that day.
I’m thankful for the day I finally met her back in 1985. And all the days since.
