Where’s the Teacher? By Linda Stowe

Good things come from playing Wordle. It keeps your mind sharp. It also helps when you have a brilliant friend who plays along with you, and the two of you write a little bit each day with your Wordle Word guesses. That is me. And I have that brilliant friend.

So, once again, is another short piece from last month from the eloquent Linda Stowe:

Remember when you were in grade school and the teacher would put one of the more responsible students in charge while the teacher was out of the classroom? It never worked. Paper wads would be thrown, hair would be pulled, and by the time the teacher returned, pandemonium would have broken out. Why was that? I think it is because the other students knew that the kid put in charge had no real authority that the other kids would respect. If anything, they now had a scapegoat for their bad behavior. The teacher wrongly believed that, left on their own, the students would behave because they knew what behavior was expected.

The past few years I have read several accounts by Republicans about why they joined and/or remained in the Trump administration even after it was becoming evident that things were going off the rails. They all said they stayed because they saw themselves as “the adult in the room.” They even suggested that things would have been worse if they hadn’t stayed on. They may have been right, judging from what is being revealed almost daily in Trump’s courtroom dramas as well as the train wreck that is currently playing out in the House of Representatives. I hope the teacher gets back soon.

Polly here again.

I don’t need to say another word about this. I think it speaks for itself. Clearly.
I sure hope someone in that party starts to wise up. And how.
