I happened across a word today.
Woebegone.
It means: strongly affected with woe: woeful; exhibiting great woe, sorrow, or misery.
This word caught my attention right away. Whenever I hear “woe” I think of the nursery rhyme called “Monday’s Child.”
Monday’s child is fair of face,
Tuesday’s child is full of grace,
Wednesday’s child is full of woe,
Thursday’s child has far to go,
Friday’s child is loving and giving,
Saturday’s child works hard for a living,
But the child born on the Sabbath day
Is bonny and blithe and good and gay.
As luck would have it, I was born smack dab on a Wednesday. The woe kid.
But here is my question.
What day of the week were you born?
(If you don’t know, find out here: https://www.mathsisfun.com/games/dayofweek.html)
AND.
If you could pick any day from the poem, which day (and its description) would you pick? And why?
C’mon. Play along on FB. It’ll be fun. And blithe. And bonny.
Whatever bonny is.
