You Are Here By Linda Stowe
I love maps, especially the ones with the “You are here” insert. Those big wall maps with the “You are Here” notations are probably one of the most popular features in highway rest stops. They help us get our bearings and see where we are in relationship to our destination. After hours of mind-numbing highway travel, being able to visualize our progress is reassuring.
The charm of maps is that they are a quick way to learn about a lot of information. At one glance, we see relationships, progress, and goals. I suppose all that can also be depicted using a graph, but I’m not that keen on graphs. My experience has been that once a graph shows up, numbers will follow and before you know it things get confusing, and I don’t know where I am anymore.

Polly here.
As always, Linda Stowe’s writing causes me to think.
I can see myself standing at one of those big wall maps, with the bold “Red X” marking the exact spot where I stand.
“You Are Here.”
Something really gets me when I stand before those kinds of maps.
It evokes a feeling deep inside.
That big red X drives the point home:
You are Here. I am Here. We are all HERE when we notice.
Yes. Those maps sure help us notice. So did this bit of Linda’s writing.
