You might want to rethink your habit. Cheesily.

Let’s be cheesy.
Because most everyone likes cheese.
Most.
If you don’t like cheese, you might be defective.

I’m joking. Of course, cheese isn’t for everyone. But according to a recent survey, 96 percent of Americans are cheese eaters. Most of these people would rather give up their cell phones for one week or forego coffee, rather than lose cheese from their lives.

I like cheese, alright. But not enough to give up coffee.

So, yeah. If you don’t like cheese, you may need to seek counseling.

It is just good food. It is first cousins with butter and ice cream. What a good, good family.

All in all, we Americans keep eating more and more cheese. Over the past ten years, our consumption of cheese has increased by over five pounds per person per year. That’s a lot.

The average American consumer ate about 40.2 pounds of cheese in 2020.

Of that cheese eating? Kraft Singles were the leading American cheese “thing” eaten most often in the United States. So go as you will.

The people who eat the most cheese in the world are the Greeks. Each person in Greece consumes around 60.2 pounds of cheese every year. Most of that is feta cheese.

But let’s get to the bottom of the cheese bowl. There is no exact information concerning the origin of cheese. Archaeology has shown the origin of cheese dates as far back as 6000 BC. Have goat? Say cheese.

Today, cheese production around the globe adds up to more than the combined worldwide production of coffee, tobacco, tea, and cocoa beans. That is a lot of cheese. Give thanks to Pizza Hut, in part, for all of that cheese-eating. Pizza Hut is the largest cheese-using entity. It uses approximately 300 million pounds of cheese annually. Pizza. Pizza.

But there’s more to cheese than just cheese. There are more than 2000 varieties of cheese available worldwide. And of all those types, mozzarella and gouda are the favorite around our cheesy planet. People eat more mozzarella than any other type.

Some types of cheese are aged for longer periods, giving them a sharper flavor and harder texture, like cheddar and gouda. Other cheeses are aged for a shorter period of time and have a softer texture and a milder flavor. Like feta, brie, and mozzerella.

But. With all this cheese-eating, be aware. Many studies have confirmed that cheese is highly addictive. Yes indeed. It has some similarities to the effects of drugs. Cheese contains a chemical that can trigger opioid receptors in the human brain. Cheese Puff.

Most importantly.
Always remember.
If you need to smile, just say “Cheese.”
