A few weeks ago, Mary’s youngest grandsons asked me if I thought Roswell was real. I told them, “Of course it is real. It is a place in New Mexico, and there are a lot of buildings there, with people in them.” But they wanted to know what I thought of the UFO story.
I told them there was definitely something going on back then. Something that the U.S. Government did not want the common Joe to know about. Was it a crashed flying saucer filled with aliens from a far off planet? Well, I’m not to say, because I wasn’t there. But I don’t think it is likely.
That doesn’t mean I don’t wonder about life in other galaxies, living in different dimensions of time and space. I think for humans to believe that we are the only “intelligent” creatures in all of the vastness of this place, is a little bit half-witted.
Are there other humans somewhere? I seriously doubt it. And if so, by now, they’ve probably destroyed their planet a million years ago, sort of like we are doing now. Other entities though, other life forms of much higher awareness. could possibly exist, I think.
But Roswell. Who knows what really happened there. I recently read an article at Smithsonian Magazine on the topic. They were as inconclusive as any other article published on the deal. However, one topic they considered, which I had not heard before, that it was a ploy, by the Russians. Stalin devised this plan to instill fear and panic in the U.S. population.
An unnamed source — always an unnamed source — who worked as an engineer at Area 51 for the defense contractor EG&G stated that “the program had been designed by Nazi concentration camp doctor Josef Mengele.” According to the source, “adolescent children were deformed by the Soviets to resemble aliens and then deployed in an aircraft to fly over New Mexico.” So then, Stalin’s plan was for “the children to climb out of the aircraft and be mistaken for visitors from outer space.” Of course, the plan would be that panic would ensue, and then I guess, there would be a domino effect. Our radar system would be somehow overwhelmed with other UFO sightings.
Naysayers have debunked this one, stating that there is no evidence in the Soviet’s archives that would indicate such a thing. Yeah. Good luck with finding anything like that.
Regardless, the U.S. Government changed its story at least three times concerning Roswell. So, something happened and it had gone awry.
I’m certain of one thing. It is a big place out there. A place that extends far beyond our wildest dreams. Scientists have devised many theories about the greater reaches of the Universe, many of them supported by facts, research, and evidential proof.
But there is a lot of mystery out there too. We simply do not know the greatest part of the world in which we live. How can we expect to understand the workings of our Universe? We can’t even cure the common cold, or figure out clean transportation, or the guaranteed feeding for our species.
Instead, we are building Segway Lazy Strollers that will wheel around our listless bodies, all the while bumping into one another, as we make our way to the donut shop. And celebrating such a thing at our most revered technology show.
Oh, Roswell. That’s the least of our worries, boys.
We better be thinking about the next ten years, and how to save us from ourselves.
