June. It is that time again. The sixth month.

June is one of those months that feels like a breath of fresh air for many people. It comes after the long, chilly winter months. And as we all know, it is the time when summer officially kicks off, and the world seems to burst into full bloom.

I recently read a survey that rated people’s favorite months.  June came in third place.  Oddly, December was ranked number one.  Must be the Christmas thing.  And July came in second.  The least favorite month? January.

Anyway, back to June.  Here it is. The first day.

The days are longer, the sun is stronger, and there’s a noticeable shift in the air. If we listen carefully, we can hear the hum of summer in the background as people emerge from their winter cocoons. s

It’s a month that invites us to enjoy the outdoors. This comes in many forms, whether that’s taking a walk through a sun-dappled park, enjoying an afternoon at a lake, or just lounging in a hammock with a good book.  And then there are those who garden.

For many, June marks the end of school. It’s a time of freedom for students.  But maybe not so much for all the parents out there.  The kids are home all the time throughout the summer.

But here is the thing. There’s something incredibly nostalgic about this time of year. It reminds us of childhood. Those long afternoons spent with friends. Bike rides that felt endless.  Crowded swimming pools.   And those clear summer nights when the air is warm enough to stay out until the stars appear.

June also brings a sense of anticipation for what’s to come. A lot of people enjoy taking vacations at this time.  In that way, the month feels like a blank canvas, full of possibilities.

And let’s not forget June’s unique charm in the way it celebrates. Father’s Day falls right in the middle, offering an opportunity to show appreciation for the dads out there. June also contains lots of holidays.  Like National Game Show Day. National Ketchup Day.  And let’s not forget National Upsy Daisy Day.

Many people think it’s the perfect excuse for family gatherings, grilling burgers, and spending time together.

So, here’s to June.  A month full of warmth and goodness. June has that kind of relaxed energy that makes it feel like anything is possible.

No matter what time of year, may we find something to appreciate in each day as we notice the world around us.
