Good facts about the Founding Fathers

Our country. The good old United States of America.
I hope it hasn’t been damaged beyond repair since January of 2025.  I hope that the Constitution will remain our governing document, and that the people will never forget this.

This country.  It was built with a lot of hard work by a lot of good people.
They say we have “Founding Fathers.” And we do.  But there were “Founding Mothers” also.  Women who supported the birth of this nation. But today, I am bringing you some good facts about the “Founding Fathers” in our history.    Things you may or may not know.

Let’s start with Benjamin Franklin.  He was truly significant in many ways to the birth of the United States.  Not to mention that he invented all kinds of things, like bifocals, and swim fins, and stoves.  But he was also a fireman.  Yes, a real “put ’em out” man. Franklin not only established America’s first volunteer fire department, but he was a firefighter himself and volunteered after witnessing a local blaze.

Since we are talking about Ben.  Let’s keep going.  Benjamin Franklin invented the rocking chair.  Back in the 1700s, Franklin fitted his armchair’s legs with curved wooden pieces, giving him credit for the invention of the rocking chair.  And, from that chair, he could speak to you in six different languages. Smart guy. He knew English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Latin.

How about his pals?

Thomas Jefferson had 6,500 books.  Which was a TON of books for that time in history. And he probably ate ice cream while reading them. He loved vanilla the most.

John Adams was a smart cookie.  He went to Harvard at the age of 16.  And graduated in less than four years.

And the papa of it all, George Washington?  Well, he was a world-class dancer.  He studied formal dancing as a teenage boy. He didn’t become a professional dancer, obviously, but he loved to cut the rug with Martha.

And finally.  Last but not least.  Our little man. James Madison only weighed 100 pounds.  He was a short little dude too, and measuring 5’4″. Today (June 28) is the anniversary of his death in 1836.

So there you have it.
Some good facts about our Founding Fathers.

I wonder how they would feel about America today?
