We need to eat. Hence, we have to buy food. And with that in mind, we all know that grocery shopping has become a painful experience for a lot of Americans lately. Prices keep climbing. And even though we are paying more, the product sizes keep shrinking.
It always happens to me. A quick trip for “just a few things” ends up costing Donald Trump’s Golden Toilet, filled with all his Bitcoins.
But some stores are doing a much better job than others when it comes to stretching a dollar.
A recent Market Force survey asked thousands of shoppers about prices, customer experience, and overall value. They didn’t ask me. Regardless. The result was a ranking of the grocery stores Americans believe give them the best overall value.
Here are the Top 10 cheapest grocery stores in America according to the survey:
1. Aldi
2. Woodman’s Markets
3. WinCo Foods
4. Lidl
5. Market Basket
6. Grocery Outlet
7. Costco Wholesale
8. Sam’s Club
9. BJ’s Wholesale Club
10. Trader Joe’s
Here in this part of Ohio, the only groceries that appear on this list are Aldi, Costco, Sam’s Club, and Trader Joe’s.
One more notch. Here in Preble County? Zip. Nadda. Nope. Not a single one.
One interesting takeaway is that shoppers are no longer looking only for cheap groceries. They also want stores that are clean, fast, well-stocked, and less stressful to navigate. Saving money matters, but so does the quality of the store.
Mostly, I shop online and have my groceries delivered. That takes the stress out of everything. And our new Kroger’s does a pretty good job.
